Second, the type of BIS certification program:
India offers BIS certification for products of different types of plans, as follows:
1. The normal procedures of domestic manufacturers:
Applicants must submit a BIS certification application with the required documents and the necessary fees. After submitting the application, the BIS officer will conduct a preliminary factory assessment. The samples are then tested at the factory and tested independently. If the sample is acceptable, BIS certification is provided. In this approach, BIS certification is expected to be approved within 4 months of filing the application.
2. Simplified procedures for domestic manufacturers:
In the simplified procedure, the applicant submits a test report of the sample and a BIS certification application from a BIS approved laboratory. If the test report is satisfactory, the BIS official will verify the factory premises. BIS certification is granted if the BIS official's verification is satisfactory. Under this approach, it is expected that the license will receive the required documentation and test report within 30 days of submitting the BIS certification application.
3. Tatkal plan:
Manufacturers who are required by the government to mandate BIS standard markings may obtain BIS licenses under the tatkal program. According to the tatkal plan, the application is processed within a strict time, and the total processing time is specified as 30 days. In addition, applications received under the Tatkal program will be prioritized to comply with strict time specifications.
4. ECO logo plan:
The BIS license for eco-friendly products is awarded in a separate program from the normal BIS certification process. Environmentally friendly products should meet the additional requirements set out in the Indian Standards in order to qualify for the ECO Mark. However, the licensing process is similar to the one planned by the domestic manufacturer.
Foreign Manufacturer Certification Program - Overseas applicants/foreign manufacturers receive a license to use the ISI logo under a separately designed program within 6 months.

Third, the Indian BIS certification conditions are as follows:
1. The manufacturer establishes an office or liaison office or appoints an agent in India;
2. The manufacturer's facility must be equipped with all the infrastructure for which the test application is approved to comply with relevant Indian standards.
Certification mode: sample test + registration certification
Number of samples: 2 – 6 pcs (can be applied in series, one sample for every 10 models in the same series)
Certification period: 45 working days (including testing and registration forensics, testing and complete documentation)
Fourth, BIS certification process:
1. Apply
Foreign sellers who want to obtain BIS certification generally need to use a special application and prepare relevant documents to apply to BIS New Delhi headquarters;
2, record
BIS will review the application documents and materials submitted by the applicant. If the procedures are complete, the application will be recorded (the applicant must pay the corresponding processing fee);
3. Initial factory inspection
BIS will assign an official group of no more than 2 people to the factory for inspection, and the applicants will also be responsible for the travel expenses, visa fees and other expenses incurred by the official group to the factory inspection and the corresponding inspection fees;
4. Issue a certificate
If the initial inspection and test results are qualified, and the applicant agrees to perform the BIS-approved inspection test plan and pays the BIS identification fee after approval, the BIS may issue a certificate to the applicant, and the certificate is valid for one year. After the certificate is granted, the licensee pays the logo fee and the annual certificate fee each year.
5. Supervision
BIS will supervise the quality of its certified products through routine supervision of the licensee and surprise inspections and tests on samples at the factory and on the market. If the sample is taken from the factory or the market for periodic inspection, the factory inspection and independent test results meet the requirements, and the certificate can be updated. The licensee submits an application for renewal to the BIS by submitting the specified form. The certificate renewal fee is 500 rupees, and the licensee is also required to bear the sample inspection fee.
